Thajiwas Glacier

Thajiwas Glacier, located at an altitude of 9,186 feet at a short distance from Sonmarg in Jammu & Kashmir, is enormous and blessed with magnificent beauty. Overlooked by the Thajiwas mountain and surrounded by meadows, conifer trees and frozen lakes, it is one of the most beautiful sights you will ever come across. Thajiwas Glacier is located 2.3 kilometers approx. from Sonmarg, and can be reached by taking a 30 minutes hike. Ponies are also available for hire from Sonmarg.
Baltal is only open for 6 months from April to September, as the weather is quite comfortable & pleasant during this time.

Baltal Valley is situated at almost 2,743 meters and located 15 kilometers north of Sonamarg in Jammu & Kashmir. The beauty of the valley is spectacular, as it is dotted with snow capped mountain peaks, waterfalls & glaciers, while the Sindh River flows happily. Those who love photography and nature will find that this is the ultimate place to visit. From here, you are also treated to spellbinding views of the Zoji La Pass and the mountains surrounding it. Baltal Valley is a famous base camp site for pilgrims going to the Amarnath Cave.

Kishansar Lake

Situated at almost 4,000 meters in close proximity to Sonamarg, Kishansar Lake is overlooked by snow capped mountains and surrounded by lush meadows, and a haven for nature lovers & photography enthusiasts. It is interesting to note that the colour of the lake depends on the time of day. Just adjacent to it lies the Gadsar Pass which is a popular trekking spot. Trout fishing and angling are also popular here. The lake is frozen during winters.
Kishansar Lake is located less than 1 kilometer from Vishansar Lake. You can hire a taxi from Srinagar Airport up to a village called Shitkandi. From there, trek for about 35 kilometers, or hire a pony. The trek takes you past Nichnai Pass, located about 4,100 meters, right after which the lake is situated.

Gadisar Lake

Gadisar Lake is a picturesque alpine lake situated about 13,750 feet, about 8 kilometers from Sonmarg in Ganderbal district of Jammu & Kashmir. The bluish-green waters of the lakes are so crystal clear that the clouds, mountains & surroundings are perfectly reflected in it. In the local language, Gadisar means, “the lake of fishes”, and it is aptly called so since it abounds in brown trout. For anglers & fishing enthusiasts, this is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy fishing. Gadsar Lake is also a part of the famous Great Lakes Trek, which is arrived at after crossing the Gadsar Pass. If you love photography, this is a beautiful sight to capture in your camera. June to September is the best time to visit Gadsar Lake when the weather is pleasant & great for trekking & sightseeing. Gangabal Lake

Gangabal Lake is situated at the foothills of Mount Harmukh in the district of Ganderbal, north of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. It is an extremely beautiful alpine high altitude lake inhabited by numerous species of fishes, including the brown trout. You can get spellbinding views of the lake from Zaj Pass. One side of the lake opens out to lush meadows while the other is overlooked by mountains covered by playful clouds, and it is heavenly scenes such as these that make the lake so exceptionally beautiful.
To reach Gangabal Lake, you need to take a car ride from Srinagar up to Naranag via Ganderbal. From there, take a 13 kilometers trek to the lake. You can also hire horses to reach the lake, but will cost you a very hefty amount.
